SUMMARY:Exhibition: Discovering Oscar Cahén
DESCRIPTION:In special collaboration with TrépanierBaer Gallery\, Feheley Fine Arts is thrilled to present an exhibition of outstanding works by Canadian abstract painter and illustrator\, Oscar Cahén. A major highlight includes Cahén’s monumental canvas Warrior\, completed shortly before his sudden passing by automobile accident in 1956. Fittingly\, Warrior’s legacy comes full circle in this exhibition at Feheley Fine Arts\, as the piece was originally shown for the very first time at M.F. (Budd) Feheley’s Park Gallery in 1959.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Tristram Lansdowne "I swear you never slept at night"
DESCRIPTION:Galerie Nicolas Robert is proud to present Tristram Lansdowne’s exhibition I swear you never slept at night in Toronto from September 13 to 21\, 2019. In a new body of work that includes watercolours\, drawings and relief sculpture\, I swear you never slept at night continues Lansdowne’s examination of the psycho-spatial content of the contemporary modernist home. Borrowing its title from Track Three on Scott Walker’s 1984 album Climate of a Hunter\, this exhibition traces the erosion of subjectivity and increasing sense of placelessness in modern architecture as it is disseminated through globalized design culture. Taking the absent lover referred to in Walker’s song as a metaphor for illusion\, lost intimacy and deferred time\, it asks what our current conceptions of the ‘ideal home’ say about our sense of place within a digitized world of speculation-driven real estate development and hyper-realistic imaging technology. \nThis exhibition is the first in a series of projects presented in Toronto that will continue over the next few years.
